Krav Maga Beginners
‘Superb workout but most importantly professional structured teaching in a friendly environment with all pupils supporting one. A gem of a find.’
Brandon Hennessy
If you are considering joining Krav Maga Stourbridge, what should you expect over your first 16 weeks?
Well, by the end of the initial 16-week Beginner’s Course training period you will have been through an accelerated learning process designed to equip you with a basic level of Krav skills and knowledge to be able to effectively defend yourself and your loved ones should you find yourself in a conflict situation. In the process, you will get fitter and you will become more confident in your abilities and I hope, you will have fun and make a few new friends along the way too.
During the course we will cover the following self-defence themes:
As a student you’ll be learning the British Krav Maga Reality based curricula, this is the only Krav Maga curricula that was research driven. In otherwords the only curricula in the UK based on real assaults and real victim statements reflecting UK street violence.
Some of these skills are:
As your training progresses these new-found skills will be tested against single and multiple attackers under pressurised scenarios to imitate as closely as possible, the highly emotional state a real conflict situation creates.
We do this to ensure that when the time comes, you are able to use your self-defence skills to good effect. BKMA research has shown that 92% of trainees are able to reach this level of competency over a 16-week period training a minimum of once a week.
We recommend training twice a week but understand that this is not always possible. If you are able to train twice a week, however, then your level of understanding and skills acquisition should be higher by the end of your first 16 weeks.
During this initial period of Krav training, you will be expected to acquire new skills and knowledge. This can be a daunting prospect for new students I know, but remember that Krav Maga is based on natural instinctive responses and movements, utility of techniques, simple principles and a “tool box” of combative and defensive skills.
This flexibility of approach makes Krav Maga incredibly adaptive as well as highly effective and relatively quick and easy to learn.
That said, I also understand that people progress at different rates and it is my job, as your instructor, to ensure that I identify your training needs and accommodate them within the class. I will do this by ensuring that I scale the classes to match all abilities and provide progressions and regressions as necessary.
Also, please remember that classes will not end after the 16-week Beginner’s Course, so if you’re taking longer to pick up the skills no problem, we have plenty of time to get every student to a reasonable level of competency and if it’s something that interests you, to ultimately Grade.
